Session 17/2/2023
In today's session, we worked on Care, the 6th track from the 2nd compilation coming up - LIFT.
Since most of the highs and mids were already recorded, the vibe demanded some low syncopated frequencies.
We have a lot of patience during everyone's recording, and the bass guitar is the prime example of that in this track.
It can be demanding to be patient with the ones around you but that's something we've always learned with each other.
We are respectful and supportive of each other's timings. Definitely helpful and important during these dark times we live in.
Funny fact: During this week we've all been listening to Linkin Park's Meteora and I see it as an influence during the bass guitar's chorus riff on Care. The long extended bass notes remind me of something Dave "Phoenix" Farrell would play alongside the powerful power chords played by Brad Delson, all over their 2nd album. Since guitar was my first instrument, it's an influence when I play long sustained bass notes/chords like a rhythm guitarist would. It has power and causes impact during the peak times of a song.
Furthermore, Rafael's vocal verses on Fine Art (also from LIFT - future compilation), give some hints of inspiration from Mike Shinoda back in the old days.
See you next time fellow monks!
